Bozdoğan Arch
This is one of the oldest water structures of Istanbul. It is also called the Hadrianus or Valens Aquaduct. Its construction dates back to the Byzantine era. However the precise date of its construction is not known. The aquaduct built by the Byzantines to provide water to Istanbul was damaged over time. It was put into service again after the conquest of Istanbul by Fatih Sultan Mehmet.
Additions were made to the structure during the reign of Bayazid II. Its total length today is only a few hundred neters. It is now protected as it is a historical structure. It is located near the building Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Hall in the district of Sarachhane in Istanbul
